The Very Best Time You Can Spend

During a training program, I witnessed an attendee decline the opportunity to make a small additional investment to enjoy unlimited educational sessions for the following twelve months. It wasn’t that he turned it down that was so disheartening; it was the fact that this same gentleman was scheduled to attend another class the following month at full fee.

Had he chosen to subscribe to the yearlong program, he would have actually saved his employer half the cost of the upcoming session AND had the opportunity to take advantage of thousands of dollars of training for free. Unfortunately, he chose not to make that investment in himself, even though his boss would have reimbursed him. He also missed the chance to be seen as a hero for saving the company training dollars.

Here’s my disclaimer: because I’m such a self-development junkie, it’s hard for me to understand someone who won’t spare the time and effort to grow personally and professionally. It takes a lot of hard work and effort to get “lucky” in life.

Jim Rohn once said that, “The only thing worse than not reading a book in the last ninety days is not reading a book in the last ninety days and thinking it’s ok.”  Just ten minutes a day can make a big difference in your level of learning. Pick up a non-fiction book today – and READ it!

PS – Still don’t have the time? Turn off the TV and you’ll probably find it.
