We are Born to Live – Not to Prepare to Live

Lisa Ryan Grategy Having Fun“(We are) born to live and not to prepare to live.”  Boris Pasternak

In one of my mastermind groups, there are members who bring the same marketing pieces back month after month to get feedback and input from the group.  Although I can appreciate that they want to make sure the material is effective, the practice reminds me of one of my favorite sayings, “It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.” Just send the darn thing out and see what happens.  Do a smaller run if you need to, but all the feedback in the world isn’t going to get it to your clients any more quickly.

If I waited for any of my books to be perfect, none of them would have been published.  If I needed validation for every decision I made in my speaking career, I would drive myself crazy.  Most of the time, we need to “just do it,” take action and adjust or tweak our strategy as we go along.

You may be one of the people that is twitching right now. “No, Lisa, you don’t understand, I’m investing a lot of time and money into this project, it needs to be right….” you know the drill. I’m not saying to do careless or messy work, but remember that “good” is often “good enough.”

PS – Doesn’t it feel good to be able to check one more thing off of your list?
